Tomb 20

Tomb 20 shows how a funerary space was transformed into a place used for ceremonies.
Tomb 20

In its first phase, it had a covered chamber, an access corridor, and a central pillar. Later, part of the structure was filled in and an open area was prepared, which researchers interpret as a place for performing rituals. The discovery of the well-known Diosa de Galera, a small alabaster figurine, is associated with this burial. Its placement on the pillar and its role in ceremonies are interpretations, not scenes that we can reconstruct with certainty.

The corridor’s orientation offers another clue: studies have examined how sunlight could enter the chamber at sunset at certain times of year. Now activate the augmented reality experience to explore this effect in a recreation of the covered phase. Set aside about ten minutes to observe and interact with it. When you finish, look again at the remains: you will be able to relate the space that has been preserved to the volume and light the experience has helped you imagine.
